FCT Police Commissioner bans #BringBackOurGirls protest in Abuja

The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Joseph Mbu has banned all forms of the #BringBackOurGirls protest in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the ban was issued today June 2nd. Various groups have had demonstrations in Abuja in the last few weeks over the missing Chibok girls who were abducted on April 14th.

Explaining the ban, Mr Mbu, at a press conference in Abuja this afternoon, said the ban was as a result of the security threat it poses on the FCT. He said the police has strong evidence which indicates that the protest groups would soon be infiltrated by "dangerous elements" who are capable of hijacking the protest.
