Borno State Students Head to India for Agricultural Training
As part of the efforts of the Borno State Government in fighting the evils of terrorism and insurgency in the region, the governor, Kashim Shettima said that 50 students of the state have left for India on irrigation agricultural training.
Governor Shettima said the beneficiaries were selected across the 27 local government areas of the state for even spread.
He said that the trainees were to undergo a three week train the trainers course on irrigation equipment installation, effective utilisation and maintenance.
He said the training became necessary because his government had since discovered that in addition to misguided beliefs, insurgency thrives because joblessness, hopelessness and extreme poverty.
The students after returning from their training will ensure other farmers in the state obtains the knowledge they gathered in order to boost agriculture in the state.
